Img.397 from Milicz (#D5c)

Img.397 (#D5c): Illustration shows the appearance of the skeletal remains of a convict imprisoned in a cell of a tunnel in Klodzko. Underground tunnels from the medieval period often also served as prisons in which convicts were shackled forever. No one looked into these convicts afterwards, so that they simply died there from starvation, lack of water and light. Similar medieval underground prison cells can be found in tunnels under Milicz.
