Img.396 (#D5a): The exit from an old underground tunnel, hidden in the woods near Cieszkow. To reflect its size, I (i.e. Dr. Eng. Jan Pajak) and my wife are standing at its exit. Old-timers told that this tunnel originally connected with the fortified castle in Milicz. However, before World War II, its final part was walled up and separated from the rest, using it as a liquor maturation room for the local distillery from Cieszkow. At present, the tunnel has been established as a bat sanctuary. Its entrance remains permanently closed and inaccessible to the public.
