Img.239 from Tropical fruits (#E5)

Img.239 (#E5): An interesting fruit called "guava". Shown are two fruits lying in the back of the plate. This fruit itself is not pleasant to eat. However, it acquires an interesting flavor if it is sprinkled with grated Chinese plum. The lower part of the plate shows four sugared dried plums from China. After these plums are grated, they are usually sprinkled on top of eaten pieces of peeled guava fruit. These plums themselves, by the way, are also excellent in flavor and the Chinese sometimes treat guests with them. They have a sour-sweet, highly aromatic flavor. When dried, their surface becomes sugared. This sugar, however, is the crystallized sugar contained in the plums themselves, and not coincidentally the sugar added to them during drying.
