Img.229 (#D1b): A cluster of young yellow coconuts on a Malaysian coconut palm. Photo taken in January 2004 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Each of these nuts is the size of a human head. They are still immature and in the process of growing. In the state shown here, only the "coconut water" they contain is drinkable. When ripe, their orange or green top layer will turn into a dark brown fibrous cocoon, the so-called "husk," inside which is a full-flavored coconut, with contents described a little further on.
